Physics Page of Mariusz Sapinski

Beam Instrumentation physicist and leader of Beam Physics and Instrumentation for proton beams in Paul Scherrer Institut, responsible for beam profile and beam loss monitoring in proton facilities (HIPA and Proscan). In the past I have worked:

My main areas of expertise are: detector physics (ionization chambers, semiconductor detectors, Multi-Channel Plates, etc.), particle shower simulations (Geant4), beam-material interactions (thin targets, beam-induced damage and quenches of superconducting magnets), data analysis (ROOT, python, Mathematica, machine learning) and accelerator physics (beam optics calculations).
