HTM beamline (beamline to Cave M)

(return)

Introduction

Cave M is former radiotherapy cave, still used for experiments related to ion theraphy or the material science. The responsible person is Christian Graeff.

The beamline follows the path: SIS18►31►34►37►38►46►HTM. No other beam path is foreseen for Cave M (therefore optics name is SIS18_HTM, even if beam path is through TH-branch).

Beams

For therapy it was usually Carbon 12C with energies 100-430 MeV/u.

Additional info:

The beam line to Cave M is the only HEST beamline featuring a kicker magnet (GTH3MK1), which is interlocked by patient safety system. This magnet, as a safety-kicker, has no calibration curves and is not present in optics files.
